Knowing when it is safe for an athlete to be discharged from rehabilitation following trauma and surgery and return to competing in agility-focused sports can be a difficult task. Furthermore, knowing what advice to give athletes after rehabilitation and return-to-sport (RTS) to prevent knee re-injury can be an even more difficult task. Different clinical and functional tests measure different characteristics of knee functional joint stability. Knowledge of which types of test (e.g. clinical, functional, psychoemotional) yield the most valuable data for the RTS decision-making process is important to safely discharge an athlete from rehabilitation and prevent re-injury.
